Name of Scholarship: The name of the scholarship shall be called The Bahamas Turks & Caicos Council Scholarship Endowment Fund and shall be tenable from the said Organization.

The Organization: The Bahamas Turks & Caicos Council, the 39th Episcopal District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Incorporated (hereafter called “The Council”), is a religious body that is committed to the holistic development of its members. As education is a priority of The Council, the Council is committed to helping its young people to succeed in the educational arena. To this end, The Council shall provide, through this Scholarship Fund, financial assistance to eligible candidates to help in their academic endeavors.

 Purpose:  In keeping with The Council’s thrust of holistic development of its members and its belief that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” (Nelson Mandela), the Scholarship Fund Programme seeks to empower its young people academically by providing financial support to deserving students.

 Mission: To provide through the benevolent donations of The Council, Council members and philanthropic organizations the necessary resources to assist our students in their academic pursuits. Scholarships will be awarded to:

  1. deserving primary school student moving on to junior high
  2. deserving junior high student moving on to senior high
  3. deserving high school graduating seniors, intending to pursue a course of study at either a two-year or four-year accredited educational institution
  4. deserving continuing students at an accredited two-year or four-year institution

Vision:  To reciprocate through advance education of our young people their knowledge, expertise and leadership that will enrich the Council and the wider Bahamian community.


The following scholarships are offered through the BTCC Scholarship Endowment Fund on a yearly basis.

Merit-based scholarship for two eligible primary school students, one from Andros and one from New Providence. Students must be graduating Primary School to Junior High School in the year of the award; must have 4.0 G.P.A.; have a record of strong scholastic achievement, leadership ability and engaged in extra-curricular activities.’

Needs-based scholarship for one Junior High School student, graduating to Senior High School in the year of the award and who has attained a minimum 3.5 G.P.A.; must have a record of strong scholastic achievement, leadership ability, engaged in extra-curricular and have financial needs.

Merit-based scholarship for one graduating high school senior in the year of the award who will be starting full-time studies at a post-secondary accredited institution and who has attained a minimum 3.8 G.P.A; must have a record of strong scholastic achievement, leadership ability and is engaged in extra-curricular  activities with at least 15 hours (accumulated) community service during the senior year.

Needs-based scholarship for one continuing university student at an accredited institution in the year of the award; must have a minimum 3.6 GPA and have financial needs.

These are all a One-time Scholarship award. The recipient can re-apply at the end of the fall semester.

The Council Scholarship Endowment Fund award ceiling is $10,000.00

The Council will award approximately 5 scholarships per year.

Criteria and eligibility for The Scholarship

  1. Applicant must be an active member of The Council and his/her local church.
  2. Applicant must be an active member of the National Youth Department.
  3. Applicant’s Annual Council dues must be paid.
  4. Applicant may NOT be related to any member of the Scholarship Selection Committee because this presents a conflict of interest.
  5. The Awardee is welcome to reapply at the end of the school year, keeping in mind criteria outlined in i-v above and continued active participation within The Council and his/her local church.

DEADLINE for scholarship applications is 7th August, 2024 (no exception).

1. Completed application form (available on the BTCC website); (if handwritten, please print legibly).

2. Letter of application addressed to the Scholarship Committee; the letter should contain a brief explanation about yourself and your goals. College and college–bound students should include college plans (college/university, intended major, and anticipated start date). Letter should not exceed one (1) page.

3. Two (2) letters of recommendations; one must be from the applicant’s Pastor; the other from a choice of high school teachers, administrators, counselors, employers, or individual with significant knowledge of applicant’s experience and involvement.

4. An official and recent transcript with cumulative grade point average and a class standing/rank.

5. Copies of BJC, BGCSE, AP, SAT, ACT certificates, where applicable.  

6. Personal Essay on the topic: “My vision as a change agent within The Bahamas Turks & Caicos Council”, Or “My vision as a change agent in The Bahamas” Essay must be at least 1-2 typed pages, double-spaced, 12 pt / Times New Roman font. Essay should be carefully proof-read for typing and grammatical errors.
